GARDEN FENCING

Good timber fencing is straightforward to get wrong. The wrong panel for an exposed site, undersized posts, no gravel boards. A few seasons of Lancashire weather will find every shortcut, and replacing a fence that has failed after three years costs considerably more than doing it properly the first time.

Newlands has been supplying fencing materials to trade customers and homeowners across Ormskirk and the surrounding area since the 1930s. The range covers everything from garden fence panels for domestic boundary work through to full fencing supplies for large-scale trade projects. Staff know the products well and can point you toward what will actually work for your site before you order anything.

FENCE PANELS

Garden fence panels account for the majority of domestic fencing jobs. Newlands stocks waney lap panels in standard heights from 3ft through to 6ft, along with closeboard panels for situations that need something more substantial. Lap panels are the right choice for most sheltered garden boundaries. Closeboard fencing handles exposed positions better and tends to outlast lap work by a significant margin when it is properly installed.

Feather edge fencing is stocked for customers who want to build up boards individually rather than use a panel system. It takes longer to install but gives you full control over height and profile, and the result is considerably more durable over time.

POSTS AND GRAVEL BOARDS

Timber fence posts are stocked in treated softwood in varying lengths. For most domestic garden fencing, 4×4 treated posts set at the right depth are sufficient. On exposed or wet ground, going up a size is the right call. Gravel boards are in stock as standard. They are not optional on a well-built fence. A gravel board carries the ground contact that would otherwise rot the bottom of your panels, and replacing them when they eventually go is far cheaper than replacing the fence itself.

FENCING HARDWARE

Newlands carries the full range of fencing hardware alongside the timber: post spikes, postcrete, arris rails, galvanised nails and screws, fence clips, and panel fixings. Everything needed to complete a fencing job is available in one visit. There is no point sourcing the timber from one place and hunting around elsewhere for the fixings.

TRADE AND DOMESTIC SUPPLY

The yard is set up for both trade customers and homeowners. Contractors and landscapers can order in volume and speak to the team directly about account arrangements. Domestic customers get the same product range and the same level of advice. Free local delivery is available if you need materials brought to site.

If you are planning a fencing job and want to talk through what you need before you buy, come into the yard. The team has been advising customers on timber fencing for decades and the advice costs nothing.
